The NFL announced today that the New York Giants and Buffalo Bills will face off against each other in the annual Hall of Fame game at Fawcett Stadium in Canton, Ohio on August 3.
The game will be broadcast national on NBC starting at 8:00 PM ET.
Both the Giants and Bills have former members being inducted into the Hall’s 2014 class. Defensive end Michael Strahan will become the latest Giant to be immortalized in the hall while wide receiver André Reed will represent the Bills.
They’ll join linebacker Derrick Brooks, punter Ray Guy, defensive end Claude Humphrey, tackle Walter Jones, and defensive back Aeneas Williams.
In addition to this being the first meeting between the Giants and Bills it the Hall of Fame game, this will be the Giants’ first appearance in the annual summer preseason kickoff since 2002, when they faced the Houston Texans.
The Giants, who played in the very first Hall of Fame game in 1962, also took part in the annual summer ritual in 1972 and 1985.
Per NFL rules, the Giants and Bills will be permitted to open their annual summer training camps a week earlier., no more than 15 days before the preseason game. That would put the projected opening of the Giants camp to be around July 19.
