The New York Giants are scheduled to host a visit with free agent linebacker Jameel McClain, who was cut by the Baltimore Ravens last month.
The 28-year-old McClain, who visited with the Buffalo Bills today, announced his upcoming visit with the Giants in a meeting with the Bills media.
“This is the first visit and then I go to the Giants,” McClain said via the Bills’ website.
“I’ve got more scheduled, but I tell my agent to tell me the day before. I don’t want to be wrapping my mind around too many ideas. I’m more like a get the information and go guy.”
McClain is a versatile linebacker who can play inside or outside. In 2013m he started 10 games for the Ravens’ 3-4 depends as an inside linebacker. The seven-year veteran has played in 87 games and has 332 total tackles, 4.5 sacks, one forced fumble and one interception over his career.
If signed, McClain could provide insurance in the even negotiations with Jon Beason break down.
If Beason is re-signed, McClain could provide depth at that position and potentially compete for the starting strong-side linebacker spot if Keith Rivers isn’t re-signed.
