Giants Ink Pugh, Nassib

It’s all in for the New York Giants’  rookie Class of 2013.

First rounder Justin Pugh and fourth rounder Ryan Nassib, both from Syracuse University, inked their rookie contracts earlier today at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center, and will be on the field for the annual pre-camp conditioning test that is set to kick off the Giants 2013 training camp on Friday afternoon.

While financial terms of the two deals weren’t announced, Pugh’s contract is believed to be a five-year deal worth about $8.34 million while Nassib is believed to have received a four-year deal worth in the neighborhood of $2.5 million.

Pugh’s first year cap figure is estimated to be around $1.5 million, which will drop the Giants $3.6 million in cap space down too about $2.1 million, pending actual contract numbers. There doesn’t seem to be any plans at this moment for the Giants to add any further outside help, including veteran fullback Vonta Leach, whose name has been linked to the Giants since he was released by the Ravens last month.

Leach is believed to want the best possible deal financial-wise as possible. The Ravens reportedly have an offer on the table that would pay him $2 million in base and $$1 million in incentives. The Giants, however, appear to only be able to afford Leach if he agrees to take the veteran minimum salary, which is $840K plus a $65K signing bonus.

Barring a completely unexpected change in events, Leach, who earlier in his free agency period was thought to be headed to Miami, will likely return to the Ravens unless the Texans, where he spent the most years in his career, somehow come up with an offer.

Be sure to tune in tomorrow for the start of our training camp coverage. I will have live reports via Twitter from the opening of camp, including the conditioning test and the pressers with Tom Coughlin and select players.

We will also find out which players will land on the PUP list, the candidates of which include fullback Henry Hynoski (knee), center David Baas (multiple), and defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul (back).
